FRIEND

Naomi wears a handwoven ponchoshawl, and is made from 100% from local norwegian wool.

V i n r

The name V i n r is Old Norse, meaning friend. It is a solid and functional woven cloth, yet remaining light and playful, so it can be worn as a poncho and a shawl. It contains sequences with reflexive yarn, to be seen in the long dark Nordic nights.

V i n r is a project that derived out of The Black Sheep Project, a quest of learning how to make yarn out of the Norwegian sheep, a race called Spælsau, that can be traced back to viking times. The yarn is collected from local farmers and spun at a small Norwegian mill, creating a soft and robust rye yarn. The design of V i n r, is also a homage to my roots, to the Bauhaus art and design movement.

What started as a quest to find out more about the norwegian wool turned into a prototype collection proposal for a low carbon emission textile production.
A Proposal for an alternative approach. A new identity inspired by our past cultures for a new time of age. Conscious and circular design. Local resources and interdisciplinary working methods.
A proposal for a change, for the better. Walking the path into a new conscious time, as an alternative to the recent industrial mass production, that is coming along with not only irresponsible use of material resources, but as well the unethical social aspects.
A proposal to produce handmade cloth for living, fashion and Interior, based upon use of local resources within labor and material. To support and create a sustainable living in tune with Mother Nature and all living beings

In V i n r you have a friend, keeping you warm and posing a good trade for modern conscious living.
